Jorge-Luis Borges va-t-il se retrouver aux côtés de Georges Orwell au panthéon des grands écrivains prévisionnistes ? Non qu’il fasse une concurrence au “Big brother is watching you” de son fameux conte philosophique 1984 annonçant le totalitasrisme d’une société de surveillance pleine de télécrans, ou qu’il lui ait emprunté son ministère de la Vérité, son commissariat aux romans et sa Police de l’amour, même s’il fut très sensible au monde d’Océania.
Le prophétisme de Borges se situe ailleurs : du côté de la révolution technologique de l’Internet.
